A film is lots of little pictures in a row.
A film is a long strip of still photos, called frames. Each frame is a tiny bit different from the one before.
A projector shines light through one frame at a time and shows about 24 of them every second. That is too fast for our eyes and brain to see them as separate pictures, so we see smooth movement. Try it at home: draw a stick figure in the corner of a notebook, change it a little on each page, then flip the pages fast.
